External blogging…

I’ve been writing a blog internally at work for quite some time now and I’ve finally started to realise the benefits of blogging. Yes its time consuming (especially trying to keep up with all your friends/collgues) but now I agree it’s worth it…time time try it externally

Blogging internally I found benefits such as:
  • Posting about¬†projects your currently¬†working on is a great way to gather¬†others opinions
  • Easy way to meet & learn about what other people and departments are working on which might even link in with your work
  • A great and easy way to share useful tips/tricks. For example a post I added about a small tool I created managed to spread half way around the world within a day!!!
  • It interesting! I like reading other peoples opinions, it can be thought provoking and provide insights to new ideas 🙂

I guess now I need to consider what’s interesting to my friends (or maybe what I’m allowed to share externally!)

So for starters I have to have another rant at how AWESOME Google Reader is, I seriously don’t know what I would do without it now!!! It’s fantastic, especailly useful to catch up on news via iPhone whilst stuck on train in the morning. Anyone not using it your definately missing out! Give it a go:¬†http://www.google.co.uk/reader

I’ve recently starting using social bookmarking with Delicious as well. . . for any of my ‘non-techie’ friends reading this here is a great video on what this is:¬†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x66lV7GOcNU

I’ve only just started using it but really starting to see the benefits already! The tagging and subscriptions can be really useful for specific interests :)¬†

One final random comment for my first post: Yesterday I came across FLUTTER (http://www.geeksugar.com/2998156), nano blogging with 26 characters – now dont you think this is just taking twitter too far!
